Applied Coating Systems, Inc. was incorporated in 2003, but has a history in the coatings industry dating back to 1938, when it was known as The ISPA Company. Applied Coating Systems' owner and CEO, Ronald L. Kaufman, purchased The ISPA Company in 1968, retaining it for over 30 years before selling it to Sermatech, a division of Teleflex Corporation.
When Sermatech decided to exit the architectural, military, and non-stick/industrial coatings markets, Mr. Kaufman repurchased these lines and maintained operations, without interruption, throughout the transition to Applied Coating Systems, Inc. He also retained the experienced management and manufacturing staff, many of whom have been with the company for 25 years or more. Since the acquisition, the company has upgraded its 65,000 square foot facility, and re-dedicated itself to being the best in the industry.
